Belington . . . “Currey” Transfer from Belington High CLASS HISTORY OF 1949 In 1945-46 the class of ’49 was com- posed of 105 students. The officers for our first year were: President, Jack Gable; Vice President, Helen Baker; Secretary, Orlen Eye; Treasurer, Edith Sponaugle; Reporter, David Gatrell; Cheerleader, Effie Jane Pennington; and Sponsors, Mary Carroll and Homer Brooks. Freshmen members on the Junior High Basketball Team were Jack Gable, Pete Ketterman, Milton Arnold, Jack Gil- more, Bob Barton, Jack Rhoades, Ford Barr, and Sonny Ours. Jack Gable and Jack Gilmore also substituted for the regular high school team. They were wed represented at football practice by Charles Kyer, Jack Gable, Jack Gil- more, Sonny Ours, Eddie Powers, Pete Ketterman, Jack Rhoades, Kenneth Ho- vatter, Dale Nester, and Ford Barr. The class also engaged in other activi- ties with seven in Band, fifteen in Glee Club, fourteen in 4-H, twenty-five in F. F. A., and eight in Junior Tri-Hi-Y. The Sophomore year started with a drop in enrollment from 105 to 97. A change was made in officers, this year’s choice being: President, Jack Gil- more; Vice President, Mary McVicker; Secretary, Martha McDonald; Treasurer, Irene Credel; Historian, JoAnne Black- burn; Reporter, Dick Macey; Cheer- leader, Effie Jane Pennington, and Sponsors, Mary Carroll and Homer Brooks. This year on the football team were: Captain, Pete Ketterman, Sonny Ours, Jack Gable, Jack Rhoades, Jack Gil- more, Bob Barton, Lewis Sponaug e, Truman Phillips, and Kenneth Hovatter. Basketball players were Jack Gable, and Jack Gilmore on the regular team and Pete Ketterman, Sonny Ours, Jack Rhoades, and Bob Barton on the re- serves.
