BAND The band was newly organized in the fall of 1by Miss Mary Margaret Car- roll. From a feeble beginning of about sixteen members, the band increased to the num- ber of 23, including Drum Majorettes, Sally Ann English and Patty Goff. Our band played at all home games this year and attended a football game at Terra Alta, and basketball games at Thomas, Davis, Tygarts Valley and Junior High Basketball Tournament .at Daily. What the band lacked in experience they supplied in enthusiasm, Their martial music added zest and excitement to every game. Members are: Sally English, Majorette; Patty Goff, Majorette; Garland Simmons, Nancy Purkey, Alberta Floyd, Milton Arnold, Jack Gable, Waitman Collins, Jean Plumb, Colleen Collins, Jimmy Shrout, Carolyn Lambert, Jane Lotspeich, Paul Hehle, Jim Constable, Sonny Ours. Back row: Bobby Barton, James Auvil, Bobby Pritt, Dick Higgs, Don Oliver, Jack Gilmore. Seniors in the band are: Jean Plumb, Carolyn Lambert, Jane Lotspeich, Donald Oliver, James Auvil and Alberta Floyd. ORCHESTRA The High School Orchestra represents the outcome of the students’ desire for a musical ensemble to play for school dances. The first dances were held in the auditorium for the students who liked to dance during the noon hour. Later the Tri-Hi-Y and Hi Y gave dances. With Carolyn Lambert at the piano, Don Oliver and Dick Higgs playing trum- pets, and Waitman Collins at the drums, the orchestra furnishes ample entertainment for jitterbugs and waltzers alike. GLEE CLUB The Glee Club is one of the most popular high school organizations. Under the very able direction of Miss Paige DiBacco, it was organized in the fall of 1940. The Glee Club furnishes music for annual graduation and baccalaureate exercises and takes part in assemblies and the Talent Show. Senior members are: Margaret Hedrick, Angeline Phillips, Wanda Hanline, Lou- ise Sponaugle, Jane Uitspeich, Patti Shields, Evelyn Burns, Vanetta Collins, Clara Faye Thompson, Betty Lea Bright, Carolyn Lambert, Eloise Booth, Lelia Kalar and Phyllis McBee. ?2
