Bound between two covers and captured upon these pages is illustrated the story of Parsons Senior High School, 1965. Long after our tale has been told, one of the characters will lift this book from a shelf and recapture from dulled, yellowed leaves the memories etched in his heart and mind of high school days. The story we write here has been repro- duced through the use of camera, type- writer, printer, and determination. But the pages upon which the plot unfolds would be meaningless one day were it not for the reality of the pe rs onalities here repre- sented. When in the future nostalgia trans- ports us back to Parsons High School, it will be because we remember all the others who make the story real for us--those friends, administrators, teachers, and counselors, who have enriched our youth. To them--the people about whom our story is concerned--we must bow. For without them we would have nothing to remember and the pages of the book we now present would be blank. Toble Of Contents .1 Without this man our school could not run as smoothly as it does. Without him there would be a dark shadow in our halls. Without him everyone at Parsons High would lose a good friend. Without him there would be no one to just talk with about the weather, or understand when we students have a poor day. After fifteen years of faithful service to the school, we, the annual staff, are proud and privileged to dedicate the 1965 Norseman to Mr. F. H. Slim Bevington. 5 wx RY. , XXX . -I X N Nm' I f N K s Q 5 1 za. A i.g+xan.msX MR. W. D. HUGHES President Board of Education MRS- IVAN CAIN MR. POWELL AWBREY MR. LYLE WIDUP Secfetaw . This is the motto of the 154 graduates of Parsons High School, 1965. As a senior gift the class gave American flags to be placed in each room and a large one for the auditorium. The class colors are gold and whiteg the class flower is the rose. In a year of firsts the senior class set a new tradition of honoring the nine top scholars . The honor students wore gold honor cords during the commence- ment ceremonies. The nine honor students are pictured below. HONOR STUDENTS: QL. TO R. NOT PICTURED: janet Bass. Dr. Myers Speaks To Graduates In the Commencement Address Dr. Myers de- livered he noted that an intelligent interest in life is one aspect that determines whether a person is growing up, or growing old. He also stated that Individual responsibility is a part of the in- telligent interest in life, not an interest in life. In singling out education as a vital factor of living, Dr. Myers Warned against the attitudes of we don't know what we want, but we want it now. Being educated, he said, means responding to an exposure of education, instead of being inoculated with it. Dr. Myers went on to say, There is no educated man. The so-called educated man is one who has not stopped in the endless pursuit of knowledge. Pointing to a need for a sense of sympathy and of a nearness of God, he said it is essential to make sympathy a motive . It is not enough to give . There is no barrier in life that is strong enough to make a person say 'thus far and no further'. Mr. Beck gives Dr. Myers a welcome handshake. 110 C Lost Doy Of School Seniors take finals. . .
