Hughes has been superintendent of the Parsons schools for seven years. Mr. Hughes obtained his A. B. degree at Washburn College, Topeka, Kansas. Later he was principal at Fort Scott high school. While he has been superintendent here, Mr. Hughes has done a great many things for the improvement of the public schools of Parsons. One of the most impor- tant things was the organization of the junior college and the establishment of the new high school building. In the schools he has established the honor roll system, courses of study have been revised, and new courses have been added. Six year units have been established in the elementary schools, and the Junior High School has been organized. The construction of the Lincoln school building and an addition to the Douglas school are not the least of the things Mr. Hughes has accomplished. The reorganization and establishment of the kindergarten has been accom- plished through Mr. Hughes' efforts. Since Mr. Hughes has been superintendent, the principals have become supervisors in place of both supervising and teaching. We owe much to our superintendent's interest in our schoolsg and although we do not know him as well as we do Mr. Farner, we appreciate him just as much. PRINCIPAL E. F. FARNER Principal E. F. Farner was elected to his present position in 1925. He suc- ceeded Mr. S. Hendricks. In his early life he went to high school at Eldorado, Kansas. Later he attended college at Northwestern College, Naperville, Illinois. He obtained his A. B. degree at South Western College, Winfield, Kansas and his M. A. at the University of Kansas. He was Superintendent of Schools at Latham, Kansas for three years and Superin- tendent at Attuca, Kansas five years. Later he taught high school in Lawrence, Kan. Mr. Farner has had the honor to be the first principal in Parsons new Senior High School. This year Mr. Farner has helped establish the Student Council in our school. He has been, in our opinion, one of the best principals we have ever had. In all our activities he has been an ardent booster. ummmalLmrw.a'.sars3.'ams:LsrxrQ1auQ1'zzms l 9 2 9 nfs:maximQxifsrmimimaegigswaaxaaauxxaixnsaffawsiaiamuu
