LAWN FETE BY DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION FOR WOMEN JUNE 4, 1954 SYNOPSIS The new Queen has given permission to various groups to perform before her on the day of her crowning and the individual winning her favor is to be honored by being chosen the Queen's entertainer. The Ladies of the Court have been granted the privilege of appearing first. Next the soldiers drill before the Queen and as they finish a little Street Dancer rushes into the court yard and starts dancing before the Queen. The Soldiers force her out as she has not been given permission to appear before the Queen. After the murmur subsides the scarf dancers perform. A group of Peasants then entertain the Queen with some of their Folk Dances. The Street Dancer again makes her appearance in the court yard but the Soldiers again seize her and rush her out. Some Pirates from the high seas are anxious to win the Queen's favor and appear with their dance. The Street Dancer rushes in again, the soldiers are quite angry and wish to punish her, but the Queen stands and gives the child permission to dance. The Street Dancer is so grateful she dances her very best and as she finishes the Queen sends one of her small attendants to bring the dancer to her as the favored one. The Ladies of the Court then dance a Maypole Dance for the Queen and her entertainer.
