J ulia McClain Secretary-Treasurer .,.....,. ......, A my Williamson W. A. A. The Women's Athletic Association is a national organization upon the campus which carries out a program of sports throughout the entire year. It is the aim of the W. A. A. to reach every woman in college and give her an opportunity for participation in clean, wholesome sports. In order to become an active member of W. A. A., one is required to pay semester dues, and to be active in at least one sport, earning a total of 10 points toward a P. C. The first honor after becoming 11 member is the earning of 50 points, which entitles one to a numeral . The next honor is the P. C. which is given after earning 100 points. Twenty-hve points over 100 entitles one to a stripe, and for 200 points the award is a Star , The final and highest award is given after the earning of 300 points, this award being a sweater. Girls' basketball, sponsored by W. A. A. and coached by Forrest Marquis. played a town team twicefand tied both times. They played the Ottumwa Y. girls and won 39-11. Other activities are Sports Day, held in the spring for the participation of high school girls in a program of sports, the Gym exhibition, and the May Fete. An all girl roller skating party was held October 10 in honor of the new W. A. A. members and then a skating party for the whole school was held in the Gym, March 15. Over one hundred were present at the affair. A W. A. A. dance was held at the Armory, November 25, with about 80 couples present and a Spring Formal party was held at the Armory, March 29.
