Every man on the squad was desirous of winninx: another championship. The Class tourna- ment. ol' which the Juniors were the victors, helped the couches make the early eut. In order to have five veterans playing, Bill Millar, last year's center, was shifted to forward and Ballard assumed the center position. 'Phe season started ollf well when Parsons defeated Monmouth, runner-up in the Mid-West Conference, 25-23. The Parsons team, with the exception of Stephens, was tall. this fact thus making it hard for the smaller teams. 'l'hen came Buena Vista, who lost to the Wildcats by n score uf 33-Ili, as did Still the next night, 36-16. Then. Dlayimr Central and Wesleyan, respec- tively, we won two more names by scores of 31--18 and 31-16. After winninp: another prroup of yramcs in which no opponents scored more than 20 points, Parsons came to the Cornell game. Just before this xzame, Coach Devine took sick and couldn't pro with the team. so they went to Cornell alone. On account of scholastic troubles, Ballard had to drop out and Hornish, a new man, had to fill his place. Despite these handicaps they played a good game. With only two minutes left to play, Parsons led by six points. When the frame ended Cornell had won by a score ol' 27-22. After this game Parsons won over Columbia. State Teachers and Luther without Devine's help. Then at Penn, with Glenn on the sidelines, they won again 38-25. The next szamcs were at home with State Teachers and Penn and were won. Parsons holding their opponents to lass than 20 points. Next came Simpson in the usual cocky manner and swamped the Wildcats 29-18. Alibi or no alibi, Parsons was in at slump. When we next played Wesleyan Parson won, 45-22. After this everyone was all set for Simpson. who had visions of de- leatinsx Parsons and tying for the championship, but no such luck, because the 'Wildcats won 22-18. WESLEYAN FALLS VICTIM OF WILDCATS The crack of a gun, a sudden clamoring, a hush, and then, Rah, Yea, Devine, swept across the armory Hoor swelling in volume until it seemed it would raise the very roof. Coach Devine had Just safely guided Parsons to her second Conference championship for the year. At this time public recognition was given George Stephens, Senior, for his prowess which has made Parsons basketball famous. Steve received a handsome gold watch from the business men and a bronze basketball i-igure from his fraternity. SCORES Parsons 33 ........................
