Ulass Prophec It xs now the summer of 1966 I Barbara Rood am back ln Amerlca after spendlng slx years on forexgn misslon fxelds My plane has just landed ln La Guardla Axrfleld and as I descend from the plane I notlce a large crowd of people my curxosxty gettmg the best of me I walk over to have a look I notlce that the center ofattraction IS a young woman whom I recognize as an old classmate Vera Doran She lS now Cafflpalglllflg for Margaret Truman as Harry ls too old As I leave Vera I take a cab to the Stork Club where Dianne Fundlngsland is employed as a smger I am just ln ume to catch the last part of her act Backstage I find that she IS at the helght of her sxnging career She IS also married and her hobby is ralslng dogs I now hurry to catch my plane Once settled I pick up a newspaper with bold head lmes announcing that a Flve Star WAC Genera has been appomted our new Secretary of De fense Reading on I notice that it IS JHIIICE Anderson a former classmate so I declde to get off at Washington D C and give her my regards After a short vislt wlth this dlstln guished classmate I again leave for the air port Entering the gate I am very surprlsed to see Chuck Kraus who mformed me that he was at last an F B I agent He has just f1n1shed an undercover job for the government My next stop IS Rochester Minnesota where I have an appolntment at the Mayo Clinic before going to Parshall While there I learned that Mary Stall s the Head Nurse but rumor has it that she is golng to glve up her career to marry a minister I would have lxked to talk to her but she was much too busy At last I arrlve ln Parshall It is now one of the largest c1t1es ln the Mld west As I walk up the street I notxce a new reduclng salon and at the door I am greeted by Gwendy Lyson She has discovered a new reduclng formula and her buslness IS booming! Gwendy informs me that Darlene Glasner has just arrlved ln town after a vlsit ln Hawaii On my way to see Darlene I stop at the Mobile Gas Station and who should be operat mg the pumps but Shlrley Nelson Talking to her I fmd she and her husband have smaller stations branched throughout Parshall Once at Darlene s I am very astonished to fmd her ready to enter her slxth or seventh marriage she isn t sure which one it ls! I ask her who las been her faxthful lawyer through out her line of divorces I am surprised to f1nd out that it has been no other than our old classmate Lyle Hlldreth She also tells me that Lyle is gettlng so run down from such strenuous work that he IS planning on becom ing a crlminal lawyer! Durmg my stay in Parshall I have learned that Sharon Hoffman is still worklng in D E Rlchardson s She IS due for a promotion any day now Another classmate that I would love to see IS Elmer Harney but I m afraid that th1s is an lmposslbility as he is kept very busy on his large ranch and counting h1s money I hear he is on his slxth million! After a long exhaustlng afternoon I settle down to read the evenlng paper of whlch Robert Scheer IS now owner and edltor He has been on thls same paper slnce h1s high school days and h1s work is now paylng off Reading on I f1nd that Noreen Landsledel has recently married a physicxan and IS now attendlng the Northwestern Universxty where she is com pletlng her degree to become a physiclan after whlch she and her husband plan on openlng a new cllnic in Parshall It IS now evenxng and as I approach the audltorlum for tonight s band concert I notxce a plane c1rcl1ng the audltorlum but I have no t1me to fmd out who it ls as the con cert IS about to start Enterlng the aud1tor1um I notice a nervous gentleman paclng the floor I recognize h1m to be the band dlrector Gor don Patten so I declde to ask him whose plane II was that kept c1rcl1ng the audltorium He told me that it was a former classmate of ours Gwenda Hanzal Gwenda IS now married and flying planes for a pastime! After an enjoyable evemng at the band concert I declde to stop by at the new and very modern drugstore for a bottle of as p1r1ns As I approach the counter I notice a famlliar face whlch turns out to be Mlrxam Baardson Miriam had attended the A C and IS now a pharmacist along w1th her husband The one remaining classmate whom I have yet to see is Margaret Wells I asked Mirlam a bout her and she told me that Maggie was ln Des Molnes employed as a prwate secretary for the Ford Motor Company Picking up my bottle of asplrms I leave the drugstore On the way home I stop to think over the happenings of the past week it is very rewarding to know that our class of 56 has been very successful Now we have more Moments to Remember fy ' . , . l . , , I n . . v n .
