Class History One brlght September mormng in 1944 twelve eager little first graders entered Parshall school and started thelr twelve years of school life They were Barbara Bartelson Duane Boyer Margaret Casey Darlene Glasner Verla Hemmmgson Rodney Howard Robert Kraft Gwendy Lyson Shlrley Nelson Robert Scheer Margaret Rambur and Margaret Wells Gilbert Patten was with us the latter part of the year Five of these students have completed twelve years of school in Par shall They are Darlene Glasner Gwen dy Lyson Shirley Nelson Robert Scheer and Margaret Wells Our teacher that first year was Miss Therese Gudmunson She was also our second grade teacher This year Rudolph Maurer was w1th us and we lost Margaret Rambur Later Mary Stall and Janice Anderson joined us Our third year we moved to another room and our teacher was Mrs June Binkley We gamed Gwenda Hanzal Delroy Howard and Merwln Torgerson Wllbert Weigum came later but d1dn t come back the fol llng year That year our fourth year we also lost Rodney and Delroy Howard Mlflam Baardson joined us but left a gam the same year Rogene Clark also Jolned us Mrs Binkley was our teacher again ull the last part of the year and then Mrs Carl Erlckson took over for her Our f1fth and slxth grade teacher was Mlss Prisctlla Anderson New members 1n the flfth grade were Vera Doran Noreen Landsledel Albert Footh and Naomi Lenmng later Margaret Casey left us Wayne Swartz Jomed us son came back We lost Merwm Torger son and Robert Kraft Rogene Clark l ft ln the mlddle of the year The fall of 1950 we were blg seventh graders and ln Junlor Hlgh School My how proud we were' We d1d get lost on the flrst day but we soon learned our way around Peggy Whltwer Jolned us and Naoml Lennlng left Our home room teach er was Norman Schoenthal but he left for the army and W1ll1am Roberts flmshed teachlng us that year We gamed qulre a few new prlvlleges by bemg 1njun1or Hlgh Our eighth year though we were gettmg anxlous to be 1n high school New members were Jerry Smtth and Robert Hanson Betty Turnbow was wlth us whlle that year We graduated from grade school that spring with Miss Rose Ring wall as our teacher September of 1952 the doors of Parshall Hlgh School opened for twenty one very green freshmen New members were Bur ton Olson Elmer Harney and Barbara Rood Stanley Lyson and Erwln Rakstad were wlth us too We lost jerry Smith Robert Hanson and Albert Footh Mr Robert Morris was our advxsor We suf fered through the horrors of 1n1t1at1on and found that lt wasn t as bad as we thought xt was gomg to be We gave a return party for the h1gh school Robert and Burton were on the football team and Stanley was on the baseball team Gwendy was a cheerleader from our class Miriam Verla Gwendy Robert Mary and Peggy were ln the band In our sophomore year we had the pleasure of lnitiatlng the freshmen We dldn t feel qulte so 1l'lSlgIllflC8Ilt now Our advtsor was Mr Lee Steffen New mem bers were Gordon Patten Lyle Hlldreth and Dlanne Fundlngsland We lost Rudolph Duane Burton Wayne Mlrlam and Dar lene Verla Hemmmgson left us Our en rollment decreased to seventeen Erme and Lyle were on the football team and Stanley Robert Gordon Ernle and Lyle were on the baseball team Gordon was on the basketball team the last semester Dlanne was a cheerleader Jamce Gwenda Noreen Peggy Mary and Gordon were in the band We also had a successful glrl s chorus boy s chorus and mlxed chorus this year Then we were Junlors and upperclass men We numbered slxteen now We had one new member Chuck Kraus and Stanley Lyson and Erwln Rakstad weren t with us Peggy Whltwer left us ln the mid dle of the year Robert and Chuck were on the football team Gordon and Elmer on the basketball team w1th Chuck as student manager Gordon and Chuck were on the baseball team Gwendy and Dlanne were cheerleaders Thts year Peggy Mary Gordon Janice Gwenda Noreen and Dxanne were 1n the band Our class advlsor was Mrs Wasch and we had a very busy year try1ng to earn money We publlshed We presented a very successful class play Here We Go Agaln whlch was a three act comedy dlrected by Lee Steffen We put on a Prom and Banquet our theme bemg Evenlng In Parls We decorated 1n red white and blue and muslc was by the Flve Sharps Yes we had a big year We reached our Senlor year wlth etght een prospectlve graduates Sharon Hoff man Darlene Glasner and Mlflam Baard son Jolned us this year Chuck Robert Elmer and Lyle were on the football team Elmer was on the basketball team Chuck was student manager agam and Gwendy and Dlanne were cheerleaders janlce Mirlam Dlanne Gwenda Noreen Gordon and Mary were band members In the fall we presented the Semor Class Play Room For One More whtch was a serlous play and yet humorous Lee Steffen was again our dlrector Our annual staff worked very hard all year trymg to make the dead lmes Superxntendent Monte Castleman was our advlsor Now we graduates of Parshall Hlgh are ready to make our b1g step 1nto llfe and whatever it may have ln store for us As alumnx we look back on our school days leavtng behind schoolmates books and tak1ng with us many happy memories l ' I I 1 .
