6 Student Life Dances Class rings have been a tradition for many, many years. When they first started having class rings, the students were sized for their rings and although the boys’ rings were bigger than the girls’ rings, they were alike. As years have passed and everything has advanced so have class rings. Now a student can order whatever he or she wants on their ring, whatever color of stone is wanted. Every year Parry McCluer has a Ring Dance and it is always a big success. All the juniors show up to collect their rings and it is a very exciting time for the junior class, but even the dances have changed throughout the years. They use to be very dressy. There was a ceremony to get each ring, but now it is a very relaxed dance and everyone wears jeans. This year the Class of 1989 received their rings on Friday October 2nd. Everyone tried to get their rings locked by the end of the night. This means turned 89 times to symbolize their graduation year. This is a brand new tradition. The question is “‘What will they come up with next?” After receiving her class ring Shannon Garrett asked Tim Deyo to turn it.
