Remember when. . .We were soldiers for May Day. . . .We were rats. . .Mr. Hardy said, “‘This is not a pep rally.” . .We were the last ones in the lunch line. . .We had two Bob Manuels. ...The library was so small. . .We had a bake sale at Cato’s. .. .Pee Wee was less than six feet tall. . .We gave our Freshman Dance. ..“Good morning to the students and the faculty,” was an everyday occurrence. .. .We got out of school because of an electrical failure. . .We sponsored the Sadie Hawkins’ Dance. . Girls couldn’t wear pantdresses. . .We were ““Young People.” . ..We decorated for the prom. . . .We almost didn’t have a “Wonderland By Night.” . ..We went to Washington, D.C. . .We toured Marshall Library and Lee Chapel. . .We heard announcements. . .We had two Larry Lawhornes. . .We held Homecoming without rain. . We finally got an S.C.A. . . .We lost Mr. Turner, Mr. Fleenor, and Mr. Barger. . ..Assemblies were too short, too few, and too far between. . .When Jerry, Sherrell, Linda, Ashby, Nancy and Edith joined our class. . .We learned German in Coach Barger’s Latin Class. . .We received a holiday because of water shortage. . . We chose a school mascot. . .We got permission to smoke and a smoking area. .. .We were granted three rat days instead of five. . .We got the last “old class rings.” . .The other students stood up for us Seniors at the first assembly. . .
