Jokes and smart returns bringing joyous laughter are familiar sounds in the hallowed halls of Parry McCluer. Students, more often gay than not, meet after lunch outside and in the rooms to exchange jokes and funny sayings. This atmosphere helps lessen tensions and provides pleasure in the midst of study. Even the teachers join us, making us feel they have a sense of humor also. Laughter helps us forget our problems, if only for a few minutes. Laughter is the best medicine and we here feel it's an integral part of our school life. _ _— Our Thinst Jor Kuouledge (as eee Throughout our highschool career our thirst forknowledge grew. Echoing through the halls was the click clack of our typewriters. Our teachers helped us fill ourselves to the brim with formulas, equations, Presidents, poems, and parts of speech, but, still, our thirst for knowledge was not quenched, Our years at P, M.H.S. were only the beginning of our search for knowledge. Our Ageless Traditians . Throughout the year, P.M, a. S.'s traditions were placed here and there. They were repetitions of years past but were still beautiful and dear to our hearts. They were a part of the hazy past and our _ ue in the continuous chain of glorious years ate. Mu.c. _ The fun-filled eighth grade initiation, the enjoyment of Health a and Homecoming, the majestic memory of the Junior-Senior . Prom, and the excitement of our sports program were planted in our hearts to grow more cherished each year. Even the three minute chats between classes were a familiar part in our life at P.M.H.S. Our ageless. traditions played an equal part in the lives of those who had gone before us and a promise to be fulfilled to those to come after us. All were a treasured part of the eperisnes heritage of the 1961-62 P,.M.H. ,S, student body. | Aud Our Vilrant Personalities Tall, lanky boys, giggling girls, broad-shouldered football heroes, and at times bewildered looking eighth graders—What a a variety of people assembled within the halls of P.M.H.S. Although we were often swept together with fervent loyalty and united by bonds of friendship to our school, we stillwere individuals. This was reflected in our array of outside activities ranging from sports clippings, scr apbooks, to a battered wreck claimed to be a ear. Our differences in taste and aptitudes further echoed our varied personalities. P.M.H.S.was a pooling ofresources, a blending of our individu- alities to form a harmonious patter. Our personalities combined to give our student body a special, wonderful flavor all its own. It has come a long way, slow at first, but gaining momentum every year, day, and moment. It is easily seen from past history that nations scien- tifically directed, flourished, and became world powers. Science has raised the standard of man's living to such heights that he has found himself in a world of com- plexities. The world of our present is dictated by electronics, nuclear physics, and automation. This is only the present. What does the future hold in the world of science? In the near future there will be communications and travel between the planets, advances in higher mathe- matics, bio-chemical discoveries, and better living for our old, old world. The study of languages helped us to learn more about the French and Spanish speaking nations. Studying Latin aided us in understanding our own language better. Our learning to converse in these languages increased our fluency and confidence in them. Spanish, Latin, and French compositions drew our attention to the problems of grammar. Many of us left a foreign language class with a clearer idea of the life and feelings of the people of Mrs. Davidson's Freshman English French and Spanish speaking nations. The study of English grammar and literature is not only an ever present need but it is a source of much pleasure. 15 Eighth Graders learn how to use library to their best advantages.
