Class Prophecy Oh, hum! Whata lazy summer day! Thank goodness, Mr. Camden is out of the office playing golf, and I don't have to keep busy. De, de, dum, I think I will just fiddle around and see what I can find. I don't believe I have cleaned out the records since I took Miss Sizer's place after she got married. My heavens, but these files are old! Why, here is the file on the Class of '59. Tee hee, nobody's looking, so I'll just look into it and see what has happened to all of my classmates. Cough, cough! Oh, the dust is terrible! Remember how well Tommy Huffman and Beverley Seay could dance together? Well, inspired by their winnings of dance contests while in high school, they formed a partnership known as Seahuff's International Dancing School. They have studios all over the world and also on the planets Mars and Venus. Of course, we all know what Peggy Dudley is doing now, after seeing her on the Academy Awards T. V. program from Hollywood. That was her fourth award for hair styling at M. G. M. Studios, and she has really gone Hollywood. And Billy Wells! How well I remember his silly drawings in all of his books, just to pass the time away. But his talent paid off, and he now has regular exhibits in Greenwich Village, New York. Rumor is that he has md an offer to teach art in Paris, but he has given no decision as yet. Speaking of Paris, Patricia Justice is now famous for her dress designs, since becoming manager of the Dior Studios in Paris. And Emma Jean Hall, a good friend of Patricia, is not entirely separated from her. You see, Emma Jean is head stewardess for T. W. A. and arrives in Paris weekly. And Sheldon Sorrells, who wanted to be a lawyer, finally made it, but when one of his cases was being televised, he was discovered by a T. V. scout and has now taken over the Perry Mason series. Remember how well Carolyn Slough could act? Well, she put her talent and shorthand knowledge together and is now seen as Sheldon' s secretary on the same Perry Mason series. Alice Truslow has made quite a name for herself, as she became Skating Queen of the World. She is known as the Sonja Henji of Roller Skates. Clyde Moore, known for his fluent shorthand and speed in typing, put both of these valuable assets to use and became head of the Amer- ican Bankers Association. William Clements, that industrious young fellow in our class, is President of the 250 Quality Supermarkets in the State. Janet Anderson has her hands full with twin boys, but their father uses some of V. P. I. discipline on them, and Janet just smiles. If any of you have any mental troubles, just go to Frankie Hogan, who has become a proficient psychiatrist. By the way, be sure not to drive too fast while in the state of Virginia, because you might get caught by Ernest Lawhorne, who has become Head State Trooper. Remember Janie Patterson and how she used to clown around? Well, believe it or not, she has made it her profession. She can now be seen as the clown in ther center ring of Barnum and Baily Circus. And Faye Greene drops in now and then to check on one of her students. You see, she teaches History and English in the 8th grade now. And Billy Davis! Remember how quiet he was? Well, he sur- prised everyone by becoming Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. Peggy Spence is now the head detective at Spence's Private De- tectives, Inc. I hear that she is quite successful and always gets her man. Phyllis Moore teaches Phys. Ed. at National Athletic College, and she has her own T. V. show on which she demonstrates exercises for home viewers. Bing Floyd had to sell his nickname, when it was discovered in the 1959 annual, because it was copywrited by a certain singer a long time ago. He was paid quite a sum of money for it and has now re- tired. Carolyn Blosser can be seen every weekday on A. B. C. television as Mistress of Ceremonies on American Bandstand. Doc Berry, believe it or not, became a doctor. Mary Page Shewey is famous for her T. V. program, Success Through Beauty, and she has live demonstrations, too. Carolyn Rogers now travels around the world, modeling fashions in her job as The Neat Miss America. Eddie Long, who is world famous for his work on rockets at Cape Canaveral, has been given the Pulitzer Prize, honoring him as the Nuclear Physicist of the Century. Shirley Moody, while her husband teaches at Washington and Lee, is head Biologist at the women's affiliate, Custis and Madison. Jessie West now writes a column for the IQ: Qi: Times known as Advice to Sweethearts , a subject in which she majored while in high school. Bonnie Camden, if any of you ever see her, will expect to be addressed as General Camden, which is her title in the Women's Division of the Marines. Among the housewives on our list are Peggy Carter and Zeanette Entsminger. They do have their hands full these days with alltheir children. Mary Chaplin has married a football player and lives in sunny California. Jesse Wilmer has now become a minister in the state of Ken- tuck . ,Robin Lawhorne is head nurse at Stonewall Jackson Hospital, and she also introduced the new chemise nurse uniform. Babe Withers now travels around the United States as a home demonstration agent. And guess what she demonstrates! Ajax, of course. Charlene Hostetter has become head cook in Parry McCluer's new enlarged cafeteria. Dickie Gilbert designs cars for the Ford Motor Company, and his newest models are much better than those old Thunderbirds. Ronnie Shafer is now a jet test pilot for the Air Force. In fact, he can take a jet up and bring it dosn so fast, that you don't even know it's gone. Glenn Cunningham now writes a Hollywood gossip column. He is known as the male version of Louella Parsons. James Duff is now owner of 300 chain restaurants, each one known as Duffy's Tavern. Bonnie Arthurs is now autho r of many well-known mystery stories. She is known as the female Alfred I-litchcock. Willie Brantley became an undertaker, after becoming interested in l1is role as one, in the Senior play. Ila Carter is now the owner of those famous dog farms in England, known as the Karter Kennels. Her favorite word these days ls Tally Ho! Norvelle Decker has become a hostess on the French Rivera, where she entertains the best of the international set. Johnny Greene has become a featured dancer on the Arthur Mur- ray Party. He is just the rage these days. Gwynn Grow now runs the roulette table at the biggest casino in Las Vegas. Jimmy Hickman became a judge in the Juvenile Court here in Buena Vista, and I hear that he really gives those boys a time. Mary Lee Jennings has now taken Dodi Goodman's place on the Jack Paar Show. Tommy Puckett has become an importer of foreign sports cars, and his best customers are movie stars. Charlotte Ramsey has become a famous foreign language inter- preter, and she is very valuable at the United Nations Headquarters. Loretta Secrist nowdances the charleston at the Moulin Rouge in Hollywood. Johnny Snider, of course, coaches basketball at Cornwall Tech, and he has put his team in top position. Mush White has now becomea professionaldog-sled driver, and you all know the word he uses to start the teams. Paul and Marlene Felton have been happily married since their Senior year, and they now have four children. Dorlene Coffey has taken over Little Lulu's job of pulling Klennex tissues out of a box on the Perry Como Show. John Lanum has become a train announcer at Grand Central Station. Helen Covington is a home demonstration agent for the Singer Sewing Company. Well, well, lt seems as though my dear old classmates have been doing pretty well for themselves. Oh, for just one more day back in school with them all again. But, as you all know, Time passes on. And speaking of time, Mr. Camden is due back any minute now, and I must put these files away and stop daydreaming about the Class of' 59. Jane Green
