CEASS; Ollie os Some call itfate; others, chance, but by whatever title it might assume, it is life, and however we might look at it we see that the lives of our Senior Class have been affected by this mysterious, wavery ele- ment--fate. At the year of our graduation from grade school, the 8th grade was installed into the high school system, To some this was disappointing and to others it was un- meaningful; little did we realize that per- haps it would alter our entire existence. If we, by some mystic means, could peer into the shadows of the future we might see what will be or what we might have been. To youone year of your life might mean nothing, but if a chapter were omitted from a book you were reading, you could well understand the inevitableness that the story would be changed. Although the moral of the story would probably be imparted to you, Some element would be lacking from its entirety to pronounce its clarity. So it is with life and the lives of our seniors. If we had skipped the 8th year, where would we be now? What advantages and oppor- tunities would we have missed? To visual- ize this it would be necessary to investi- gate the obscure world of the might have been. As this class of 85 members started on its spinly legs like a newborn colt it gapped into the darkness of the unknown. It stumbled, it fell, but it also prospered from its downfalls and was then elated to a higher plane. After completing our first two yearsin the old Buena Vista School we emerged into the reality of a long-awaited dream, the new Parry McCluer High School. 12 By this time the class maybe pictured as a young colt trotting merrilyon his way. While some had already fallen by the wayside now 73 remainedin the sophomore year. By this time the students had their eyes focused ona goal and hada real purpose to life. Some were preparing for college; some, for nurses’ training; and stillothers, for specialized jobs. When the junior year had arrivedsome others had run off the course, being called by what they thought were more important things Such as marriage, employment or responsibility. The others, however, proceeded stead- fastly forward witha mechanicalrun. They knew their destination. Now things were really heading up and the 46 seniors galloped on, knowing the end was close by. Little things along the way showed us that we werereally accomplish- ing something. There were senior privi- leges, class rings, trips, and, most of all, senior priority. The end was here and the class was now Shown as a Strong, full-grown stallion prancing swiftly, proudly through the wind, knowing that now he was ready to greet an even greater challenge, the greatest and most difficult race of all--Life Itself.
