CLASS PROPHECY Eight years have passed since I last had the responsibility of checking the names and addresses for the annual homecoming event. This year we are planning the long dreamed of dinner dance. Out of the class of 1951, we have been fortunate in contacting allthe members and find they will be able to be with us. Lawrence Staton, one of the best clarinet players in one of the hottest orchestras in New York, is able to be here. Saylor Leighton is just back from Africa. Remember how he used to talk about going to Africa - saying he was going to be a ''water boy . Sonny Cropp, President of the United Airline Incorporated, just telephoned he will be here. Billy Slough, owner of a large movie studio in Hollywood, is also on his way. Heis driving, but don't worry, he will get here on time if he still drives as fast as he did back in the old days. And after much persuasion Blair Ogden is giving up his job of judging in beauty contest to be among those present. Melvin Chaplin, as all predicted, is a big league baseball player. We'll be gladto see our class president again. Wonderif he ever takes time out now for fishing? And speak- ing of Melvin reminds us of Delores Moore. She is now managing Kress' ''Five and Ten in Roanoke. Charles Dickinson is doingall right forhimself. He notonly is part owner of Southern Seminary but also has a large share in the Hadacol industry. Peatie Lynn, as one should guess, has his own dog hospital - Lynn Dog Hospital . He is perfectly happy with his work. Any time you can see him with gun on shoulder and a dozen dogs trailing him - going hunting. That's the life for Peatie! Wonder what ever became of Rufus? In dog heaven, I guess. Among others who are making good in the old home town are Buddy Robertson, phar- macist for Shirey and Brown; Betty Ramsey, manager of W. W. Mac and Co.; Betty Coffey, manager of Teague's Florist Shop; and Emmett Vest, owner of the Super Market on the Corner. Several of our class are now members of the P.M. H.S, faculty. Patricia Ruley and Betty Jane Slough who call themselves old maid'' schoolteachers, are teaching here. Wonder why Johnny and ''Reese ' didn't do something about those old maids , Barbara Huffman is teaching Basic Math and Peggy Cole is teaching in the first grade. Lessley Noel is still arguing, but now he is getting paid for it. Such handsome fees they are too! He is one of Buena Vista's ablest lawyers. And don't get him started on the Constitution - he will argue your ear off on that. It wouldn't surprise me any if he winds up being one of the nine old men . Remember when Gene Humphreys worked in Seay's Drug Store? Well, now he owns one of his ownandhas Herbert Eggleston working forhim. Just across the corner is Bar- bara Hamilton's ''Beauty Salon , Kenneth Conner strayed a little farther from home andis an executive in a Silk millin Culpeper. Eugene Barger is a cattle herder for Rockbridge Livestock Market. Joyce Coffey is nursing at the new Jackson Memorial Hospital. Virginia Grow is teaching biology at V. M.I. I saw Billy Foster the other day and he said he was vacationing from Alcatraz . Henry Moore is back in the States. He is what heterms a ''Buck General in the Mar- ines , William Arndt is also in the Marines. Those holding important positions at James Lees are Lucille Berringer, Doris Staton, and Norman Pelter, The housewives of our class are Jane Ann Berry, Alice Mae Rhodes, Joyce Bradley, and Betty Sandidge. Remember how Johnny Morgan talked about marrying a rich girl? Well, he did, so he spends most of his time basking in the sun on the Frence Riveria. I'd better stop this task now and getto my Glee Clubwork. Oh, Ialmost forgot Nancy Burch! She made the ''Met -- and poor little me -- here Iam with my Glee Club! But I'm not complaining. Mildred Coleman, Director Glee Club P. M. H.S.
