CHRONICLES OF THE CLASS OF '39 In the history of every graduating class there are certain memorable events. As we realize that our high school days are nearly over, we begin to think back over the four years of our career at P.M.H.S. In the year of 1935, early in September, we began a voyage on the good ship Parry McCluer™ over the Freshman Seae It was a happy day for us Freshmen with all our friends and loved ones looking on with proud and approving eyes, encouraging us in our new adventure. Being enthusiastic and interested, we asked many questions of our loyal and faithful captain, Mr. Miller. Our Pilot, Miss Mann, was very patient and it was she who taught us the customs anc ways of high school life. Our stewardesses were Ifiss Meador, Miss Pritchett, Mrs, Graybill, and ifiss Guill. If. Kling was our lone steward. We were soon efficiently organized with Emmett Shewey, president of our band: Lloyd Page, vice-president, and Roy Cash, secrcetary-treasurer. Our motto was, ‘We do our part’. The rose was our emblem and our colors were blue and white. Many of us studied hard and at the end of the year were given passports for another voyage. Some passangers became seasick and drifted away at the end of our first voyage. Others signed for a second try on Freshman Sea , and stayed behind when we started out for new adventures on the “Sea of Sophomorés , early in September, 1936. This time with our new pilot, Mrs. Graybill, we made rapid pro- egress. This year we felt vastly superior to the Rats . The Sea of Sophomores is a quiet sea and this voyage was rather uneventful. Not so our third year of sailing’on the P.M.H.S. In the fall of 1937, our band now called, Jolly Juniors started on another nine month’s voyage. As high and mighty beings it was our privilege to make the freshmen jump quickly to our bidding.
