As we realize that our high school days are nearly over, we begin to think back over the four years of our career at P.M.H.S. In the year of 1935, early in September, we began a voyage on the good ship Parry McCluer™ over the Freshman Seae It was a happy day for us Freshmen with all our friends and loved ones looking on with proud and approving eyes, encouraging us in our new adventure. Being enthusiastic and interested, we asked many questions of our loyal and faithful captain, Mr. Miller. Our Pilot, Miss Mann, was very patient and it was she who taught us the customs anc ways of high school life. Our stewardesses were Ifiss Meador, Miss Pritchett, Mrs, Graybill, and ifiss Guill. If. Kling was our lone steward. We were soon efficiently organized with Emmett Shewey, president of our band: Lloyd Page, vice-president, and Roy Cash, secrcetary-treasurer. Our motto was, ‘We do our part’. The rose was our emblem and our colors were blue and white. Many of us studied hard and at the end of the year were given passports for another voyage. Some passangers became seasick and drifted away at the end of our first voyage. Others signed for a second try on Freshman Sea , and stayed behind when we started out for new adventures on the “Sea of Sophomorés , early in September, 1936. This time with our new pilot, Mrs. Graybill, we made rapid pro- egress. This year we felt vastly superior to the Rats . The Sea of Sophomores is a quiet sea and this voyage was rather uneventful. Not so our third year of sailing’on the P.M.H.S. In the fall of 1937, our band now called, Jolly Juniors started on another nine month’s voyage. As high and mighty beings it was our privilege to make the freshmen jump quickly to our bidding. a. saya ail Xo : nanwery edt ints Mie f é So din BD : aa 30% vedverrns ne: Gaga. hd Bo 4 : + ITAOVEs 2 al cat So te Dodagnctas haw re od aT eteiiil ov) ,clotgss Sutsint tas feret een tn andisosup Siw e985 so? ot An Pn) hfe, Ualr not cedt ont gPOLrt ia 2 qu ted, fection Me lat Lie meaeese. 7 eam act ay titoyeg? - ePiades ac an Gl prohow bem oro ‘S9Seoren ds Tu ; -_ a EA Lek. theny ania wn toad sol bas yh Liars? ets) “a ae ‘a au ny Bet : - 7 : aécrat ditty aorkcceas ecstontyn WOR “rom, Bt ey efile Sgigectiv .civt DyeLl ¢Laud sue te seehty: TH «trl yoy a goon Offer We ot Pm (oriterrodvipes, ie. got aac - Biae - BNCLOn Tap tee oodtay two. see eeot adT-. sxsq tuo nh «| Wee otto ate teldowsa ot ke | nF eed RC ee er fed oeite ear Pan eee - At Rees | ape ORT UOF, cei sies ‘30% attontuney or ke ovr : ie ott aw te Sie COR) Te Mate eh ton Uelieon attuntst | q Rem om “ oe ae eh, nites - Ii Dees be C1976. emevwe on ite ith BO Wut 365 da head e oir serie hat taliul ‘fie. -§ i6T L shared’ a): deny ia re. 16, oc outs oe NS Dit cites a LONER, piel) profit Mos Aun sttty. eeste 2 eden” af? pe. wobrigwa’ ee: : LG @eteoe ehais basic ae : 2 ea a Jia +“ ueidangt 0) Cr IA Seve. — Ke a . Our officers were Milton Henson, president; Virginia Brugh, vice-president, and Jack McKec, secrctary-trcasurer. This year we made our dramatic debut in “Everybody's Crazy , a three-act comedy. Our play was ably directed by our pilot, Mrs. Graybill. The play was followed by our Junior Party given in the Community Hall. Another memorable event of this trip was the Constitution Day Program directed by Miss Mann in which we as Juniors © participated. This year we welcomed a new stewardoss, Miss Scales, who took Mrs. Calvin White's place in the Home Economics Department. Faithful captain Miller was replaced this year by Mr. F. W. Kling, Jr. whose position was taken by Mr. L. V. Schreiner. Nancy Gilley, one of our faithful band, left us this year and scottled in Charlottcsvillc. Early in September, 1938, we began our last voyage, this timc on “Senior Stretch . Once again wc changed pilots, Miss Guill succeeding Mrs. Graybill who retircd. We also welcomed two new stcwardesses to our crew, Miss Bosworth and Miss Nash, but sadly gave up our doar fricnd, Miss Mann, who met with a scrious accident early in the summer. By this timc desertions had reduced our number to twenty but wo gaily organized with Milton Henson, president; Edith McCormick, vice-president; and Roy Cash, secrotary- treasurer. Our last voyage has boen fillcd with adventures too numerous to rolate in detail. We must, however, mention the most momcntous. ‘In November, we presented in assembly a Thanksgiving play, The Dear, Dear Children , In February we reccived our class rings, the first of the newly adopted standard rings with a bust of Professor McClucr on ono side and the facade of P.M.H.S. on the othcr. On’April 13, 1939, our senior play, “Bringing Up Mother , directed by Miss Bosworth, was presentcd with great succcss. During our voyage our pilots have becn faithful and Loyal to us and in return we have grown very fond of them. Our Captain, ii.
