Histor The six years that seemed to be an eternity have passed, and as we look back upon our high school ca- reers, we realize that the time passed too quickly for the full realization of many of our dreams. Only a short time ago, we were the shy, fright- ened Junior I's. At that time the coveted honor of becoming Seniors seemed far in the future, but we were willing to forge ahead under the guidance of Mrs. Edith Deason and Miss Ruth Richards. With their help we soon became adjusted to high school life. For J y ig f Kr -r A the Homecoming parade, we elected Gladys Brasfield .G . 22. as aff and Glenn Wade maid and escort, and we made a Safety float. In our second year of high school, we were under the direction of Miss Pearl Key and Mrs. Leon Short. Doris Dunn and Garland Thompson were our maid and escort. In the Sweetheart contest, Gladys Brasfield, Sandra Rowland, and Martha Allred were the runners-up. We became freshmen the next year under the leadership of Mrs. Jennie Nelson. Stella Studdard and Glenn Wade were maid and escort and our float won third place. Gladys Brasfield and Sandra Rowland were elected F. H. A. favorites. Our Sophomore year we were ably guided by Mrs. Willodean Baird. In that year Doris Dunn won third place in the Beauty Contest. Virginia Murphree and Ralph Buzbee were our maid and escort in the Homecoming parade, and our float won third place. Finally we were Juniors. Just one more year to go before becoming Seniors. During our Junior year, we gave the Junior-Senior Banquet, won second place with our float, Frances Minor and Larry Thompson were maid and escort. Sandra Rowland won second place in the Beauty Contest, Marian Dunn, third, Gladys Brasfield, fourth. Mrs. Willo- dean Baird was our sponsor. On August 29, 1960, we became SENIORS! l I We soon became aware of the fact that our Senior year was destined to become our busiest year in high school. There were numerous things to be done, and Mrs. Lafayette Michael, with infinite patience, guided us through our many activities. Our major project was the publication of the annual. lt took many hours of work to raise enough money for the yearbook. The whole class was on the annual staff and everybody sold magazines, candy, cards, and Goodaire to raise the cash. We also sponsored the annual Beauty Contest. Many honors were won by members of the class. Marian Dunn was chosen Good Citi- zenship Girl, Gladys Brasfield won second place in the Beauty Contest. Kenneth Jinright was chosen Mr. Parrish Hi. Roy Hice, Milton Thompson, Glenn Wade, and Garland Thompson were runners-up. Glenn Wade and Roger Stone were chosen for the All Con- ference team and the All County team. Glenn also received honorable mention for All State. Garland Thompson received honorable mention for All County. Five Senior Girls were elected cheerleaders. They were Anne Graham, Marian Dunn, Gladys Brasfield, Mary Sue Brown, and Berta Ruth Waid. In the Homecoming parade, Martha Allred was Miss Homecoming and Paul Kitchens was her escort. Our float, Addison's Swan Song, was a prize winner. In addition to the many activities mentioned, we studied some. We had to in order to pass the many tests the teachers hurled at us. lt has been a wonderful year and we shall treasure many memories of our good times together.
