'J EE' ff Jr GJ The happy family that was the Class of 54 at Parrish High School united in their admiration of the Yokums at Dog patch present herewith the annua edition of the SelAla with the antics of that famous comic strip, Lil Abner, as the motif. Like Daisy Mae, Moonbeam, and the Wolf Girl of Dog- patch, the Class of '54 had its village belles and its hand- some Lil Abners, too. And as in that famous village, our lives, too, were filled with marvelous adventures. But leaving the delights ofthe Class of '54 and Dogpatch, we must now enter the brave new world of college degrees and future careers. When the burden of term papers and job hunting becomes too wearisome, a glance between the covers of this book will bring refreshing memories of the simple pleasures of our own particular Dogpatch. 5 i ac Jiiav-v-.--gf .A-QL ,YY M 'UVA 4 A 1 , 0 R A uw W ,X A L9 f My ' X 1-ff , xx W -.J f .3s w'a1 3 If-3 -1 J .f P13 E1 5.2 3 dxf! Membership in the Parrish High Chapter ot the National Honor Society is based on scholarship, leadership, character, and service. Five percent of the Junior Class and ten percent of the Senior Class are selected each year for membership. Besides being an Honor organization, it is also a service one. This year, under the leadership of Mrs. Stocks, they had a tine tutoring system, sponsored Christmas baskets, made posters emphasizing desirable character traits, helped with Youth City Day, and had book sales. Also they helped with the religious work in the school by putting blessing cards in the cafeteria and sponsoring devotions over the speaker. Page 4.5 V4.4 THE EL-ALA f 1 x if LA fx gsm E .
