Each participant in sports, Student Council, Sei-Ala, Glee Club, Dramatic Club and the like are given points according to the amount ot work invested in the activity. When a certain number of points are acquired, a Parrish High letter is awarded. This is a unique system enioyed by Parrish High because in most schools only athletes are given letters. Page 57 P. ll. Club includes vocational students in the Distributive Education and Diversified Occupations classes. Students in the part-time cooperative program attend school for one-half day and work in se- lected business establishments the remaining half day. The D. O. Club meets twice monthly, one meeting is devoted to business, the other to a program presented by club members or guest speakers. The highlight of activities sponsored by the club is the Employer-Employee-Parent ba n q uet with which the club members annually honor their parents and employers. This year's banquet was a St. Patriclds Day affair, the decorations, menu, and entertainment all depicting an Irish atmosphere. The club annually sends delegates to the State D. O. Club Convention held on the University of Alabama campus. Fourteen members of the club attended this year's convention. The Parrish High group won first place in state competition for an original skit presented as an entertainment feature of the Convention. Page 65 HER CLUB SEATED, Left to Righh D. Ellwcnger, D. NOT only were They an inspiraTion To The Team buT To The sTudenT body as well, arousing school spiriT To a high degree. 'ADEHS JSE F,W I Coach Elliot Speed and Coach O. E. Rich- ardson did a line iob in urging our team on to victory this year. Witlwout their untiring de- votion to the boys this success would not have been possible. Of course without the individual skills of the players plus the splendid cooperation be- tween both team and coaches this success could not have been achieved. Due to these facts we were runner-up in the District Tournament. In the State Tourna- ment we were finally beaten by a strong Coffee County team. ELLIOTT SPEED, Coach STEWART McKENZlE, Captain 1, f ' lxdgfsxi wavy KET C , NWA fxfx I, N 5 Z O. E. RICHARDSON, ELLIOTT SPEED Coaches Captain Stewart McKenzie showed outstanding ability in leading our team this year. Although not always the high scorer, he was considered the most valuable player on the team. l-le has made a brilliant comeback because last year he did not play due to a shoulder iniury acquired while playing football. His leadership was evident in the confidence shown him by his team, and the way in which they played, not as five individuals, but as a compact unit.
