Musicians per ormed or audzences Concert Band fsee page 2201 Activities in the music department increased as February approached, and with it, the first music festivals in which Parkwood participated. February 8, Parkwood hosted the Second An- nual Parkwood Music Festival. Thirteen schools attended. The marching band met mornings in the fall to practice for half-time shows. In October the band journeyed to Carthage and captured a two rating in the half-time competition. Emphasis this year rested on soloists as students practiced to ready their pieces for contest. The vision of Columbia and state contest in March loomed ever larger in their dreams. The year climaxed with the all school .musical Fiddler on the Roof which included an accompanying orchestra. 94fmusic

, .link V Math Club, see page 220 The Math Club traveled to Missouri Southern State College once a month to participate in regional mathematics competition. Math team consisted of seniors, juniors, and sophomores, each working on specified problems. The twelve team members and thirteen alternates com- puted individual problems and team problems. MSSC awarded plaques to the team with the highest score and the two highest individual scores during the course of the year. math clubf93
