Students formed academic clubs Carl Cold and Patty Costley compare figures at a Math Club contest. eggs if Beta Club officers: Debbie Durham. Lisa Lynch. Ellen Mat- tis. Wren Covington. Parkwood established the Joplin chapter of the National Beta Club this year. Beta club, a ser- vice organization, requires its members to main- tain a HB grade average. Their constitution, however, restricted membership to juniors and seniors. The national organization requires local clubs to draw up their own constitution and it must meet school board approval. All profits obtained through money making ac- tivities was used for school improvement. , .link V Math Club, see page 220 The Math Club traveled to Missouri Southern State College once a month to participate in regional mathematics competition. Math team consisted of seniors, juniors, and sophomores, each working on specified problems. The twelve team members and thirteen alternates com- puted individual problems and team problems. MSSC awarded plaques to the team with the highest score and the two highest individual scores during the course of the year. math clubf93
