Junior-Senior Prom Committee, composed of nine junior girls and sponsored by Mr. Don Clow, worked to raise money for the annual dance. Selling programs at football games con- tributed a major part of the funds. Other pro- jects included egg sales, pop-bottle drives, and a bake sale. Students involved themselves in extra-curricular activities Chess club officers: Wesley Rhodes, Kenny Foster, Reggie Dampier. 88-fchess club A group of interested chess players successfully formed a club to challenge one another and in- crease logical reasoning. Under the direction of Mr. Eldon Offenbacker, the group met every Tuesday morning to improve their skills and techniques. The club's goal pertained to giving students a chance to participate and learn critical thinking. RIGHT: Pop bottle drives contribute to funds. FAR RIGHT: Chess club sponsor, Mr. Ed Offenbacker ,. Key Club offered services to Joplin L Shelly witnesses signing of National Key Club Proclamation. Key Club, one of Parkwoodls civic organizations, participated in many money rais- ing projects: manning concessions' booths at football games, selling spirit ribbons, and spon- soring a raffle of the Parkwood Memorial game ball. Proceeds from these activities paid the clubis expenses to the Mo-Ark Key Club Conven- tion, held this year in Little Rock. Directed by the Joplin Kiwanis Club, both Parkwood's and Memorial's Key Clubs helped with the annual apple sale, proceeds of which went to various service organizations for Joplin young people.
