Students welcomed divers ion Work during study halls eliminated some time needed for homework and gave the students a chance to relax from a busy schedule. For the first time, girls' and hoys' study hall merged into one class. Cokes, conversation, and a tape player in the cafeteria provided a welcome breather. The lihrary furnished 18,168 books for curricular and recreational reading. Behind the counter stood a new paperback rack of current and classic hooks. The addition of new film strips. records, and cassette tapes offered a different way of learning. Driver's Education also allowed another kind of break during study hall. Through instructions given hy three instructors, those soon to be six- teen and a few already licensed drivers practiced driving skills in a new Ventura or Catalina. On the driving range, appropriate techniques of car manipulation introduced students to good driv- ing hahits.
