Under the leadership of head football coach Dewey Combs and with the aid of twenty-two returning lettermen the Bears had a 9-1 overall record. Parkwood's only defeat came in a disputed game against St. Joseph. This year's squad won a second championship in a row, the first team to do so in our district. Parkwood finally broke the jinx in the intra-city game with Memorial. The Bruins' strong wish- bone offense tallied a yearly total of 311 points and only allowed their opponents 72. 's triumphed .. ll l Junior varsity football team fsee page 2201 The Parkwood junior varsity football team, again this year, won the conference cham- pionship with a perfect 6-0 conference record and an 8-0-1 over-all record. The J.V.'s only tie came in the controversial Miami game where three teams showed up to play at the same time. Nearly a half of the team consisted of juniors but several sophomore players got starting positions. Under the tutoring of Coach Jack Morris the young Bears' wish-bone offense scored 274 points.
