Board members worked behind the scene to keep our schools progressing in an ever developing world. These constitutents of our community worked late into the night meeting once every second and fourth weeks. The six member board often had to act on educational principles while buck- ing opposition ofthe parents. With the addition of Miss Lindi Henson, the guidance office endeavored to make necessary schedule changes and to recommend subjects needed to attain ultimate goals. A tempermentalw computer caused headaches for guidance, scheduling students in classes they did not want, while others found themselves completely forgotten. With the aid of poetry, prose, and drama, Freshmen adjusted themselves to high school learning, while Sophomores broadened their basic understanding of the language. Instructors stressed vocabulary and usage to underclassmen. Juniors and Seniors chose their semester English courses according to personal tastes and interests. Courses varied from the study of fami- ly living to a review of English basics, and spanned the years between Beowulf and Brad- hurv. The purchase of a video-tape machine and camera allowed Mass Media classes to film and view student productions. Other uses included: recording educational programs for future reference and study. In addition, the ad- ministration proposed to install educational television in classrooms. The lihrary furnished 18,168 books for curricular and recreational reading. Behind the counter stood a new paperback rack of current and classic hooks. The addition of new film strips. records, and cassette tapes offered a different way of learning. Driver's Education also allowed another kind of break during study hall. Some, nominated and elected by students, served as class officers Others received honors for scholastic achievement and leadership. Most honors went to seniors, finally recognized for four years of school work and activities. Teachers in each department nominated those they thought showed academic proficiency and responsibility in their respective fields. Because of the great number in their classes, teachers refrained from naming outstanding seniors in music and home economics. awardsf201 1, ., ..5rx. , -,,. 1 -Qqml 4. Speech, drama, and debate, A.
