Mr. David Ganz, our altruistic sponsor, helped us to define our goals and work towards achieving them. Student Council, Con't. This year Student Council did projects inside and outside of West. One of our most exciting projects was when we helped an under priviledged family. We raised the money to build bed- rooms for the family. We didn't stop there, we actually built the rooms on for the family. This was the best part of the project. Outside of West, we also had Coffee Houses at Saint Martins. Towards the end of the summer we had a welcoming party for new students to introduce them to West. At the beginning of the school year we had a conference with Dr. Wayne Fick to improve relations between Central Administration and students at West. Around school we sponsored a jazz concert. For the first time we had a Halloween party, which many students enjoyed. We also ran the movie Cool Hand Luke. Before the year was up, we hoped to write a new constitution which would change the mean- ing of Student Council. With special thanks to Jan Easterday, Connie Kamakas, Duane Nelson, Debbie Philippi, Tim Phillips, Dwight Smith, and Geri Stewart much of our work would have never been completed. Drug Communications Helps People To Understand Drugs Drug Communications came to West last year to help S,,.1Mj, 'E k 5 ' Jeff Speigel prepares for a meeting. ...gk people understand drugs. Since then we have visited elementary schools and junior highs to discuss drugs. We didn't preach about drugs, but talked honestly about them. The philosophy of the group is to make people more aware of the disillusions of drugs and allow them to make their own decisions about drugs. Drug Communications makes plans for trips to oth- er schools.
