The teams attainment of these goals was demon- strated in it's last game. against Webs- ter Groves. Webster went into the game undefeated. but was knocked down by the Longhorns: our team beat Webster 26 to 12. Coach Deschamp' explained that a J.V. team's purpose is to give all of the members the basic techniques and competition of foot- ball onthe J.V. level in order to build for the varsity level next year. The de- velopment this season of good. experi- enced players should contribute to ay powerful varsity football team in 1973.

It requires the physical exertion of six days a week of break- bdowns, exercises, and scrimmages combined with the mental commitment necessary to compete in the Saturday games. For West's football team, the hopes and expectations of September materialized into three victories: a figure which did not reflect the output and dedication of the Longhorns. However, the majority of the team was juniors, who have now gained useful experience, and give West hope for a more successful season in 1973. JUNIORS 46
