Ensembles Achieve Musical Awareness Concert Band Ensembles - ROW 1: Jim Milazo, Steve Weber, Vince Hyman, Mike Tines, Debby Hamilton, Sue Booth, Jay Nilson, Jeanie Sopp, Bill Olsen, Tom Smith. ROW 2: Bill Andrews, Barb Nielson, Brenda Patterson, Kathy Miller, Charlie Brueckner. ROW 3: Steve Bay, Bob Hook. Symphonic and Concert Ensembles were organized so that we could achieve the inter- ests in music that we desired. We usually re- hearsed once a week so that when the music festivals came around our tone quality and techniques would be what we wanted. All of us enjoyed meeting with musicians of our age from other schools when we played at the UIVISL festival. To achieve our goals, we prac- ticed more frequently as the time approached so that we could be judged and receive an ex- cellent rating. The Ensembles also helped us to learn to work with our fellow musicians at West. 142

Bookkeeping The equality of debits and credits could not have been proven more effectively by the office of Price Waterhouse than by the Advanced Accounting team as they prepared to represent West at the State Busi- ness Education Contest. This team composed of Kerry Whisnant, Diana Simmons and Mark Uthe won first place in the District competition and also took individual highest scoring honors. The Accounting I team composed of Denise Sterett, Sue Mika and Lynda Hill also took honors by winning third place. Any accredited high school in the state could enter in the contest. The objective of the contest was to cre- ate interest in and enthusiasm for business education subjects and to promote a high standard of profi- ciency in them. and Accounting Teams ROW 1: Lynda Hill, Mrs. Wadleigh, Sponsor: Denise Sterett, Sue Mika ROW 2: Kerry Whisnant, Mark Uthe, Diane Simmons. 1113
