Walk Together, Talk Together The American Field Service is an organization that is work- ing to further world under- standing. By promoting For- eign Language Week, planning an assembly and parties, and arranging foreign exchanges, AFS has given West's students a look at other cultures and ways ofthinking. This year AFS sponsored Warawoot Srithaporn CWootJ from Thailand. Woot has par- ticipated in many of West's ac- tivities including soccer. Last summer Ki Bowman, a senior spent 10 weeks in Afghanistan through an Americans Abroad program. Our Ecology Club was interested in aspects of the environmental problem. We worked very diligently on a soda can recycling project within the school. Mr. lVlihevc was our sponsor. During Earth Week we had a poster contest and cleaned up the area around West. Although a small group, we got our feet wet as far as stirring up some interest about changing our world for the better. From then on it was agreed that the group would meet every Wednesday to develop new exercises and dance routines. We were able to express and develop our ideas through movement, rhythms, designs, qualities, and styles, we learned to think, feel, and move freely, and to appreciate dance as a whole. 1-
