- P an-ga, SU? YT' 'Vx J. K it. Mr. Elliott directs his troops. 126 Audio-Visual is a behind the scenes service that most students are hardly aware of, but if A-V sud- denly disappeared, we would soon notice. The student announce- ments would be more tedious to listen to, the classes would miss slides, tape recordings, films, and overheads, and assemblies would be almost impossible to have. Nlr. Elliott and his troops worked from 6:30 A.lVl. to 5 P.M. and Satur- days to make West more interest- ing as well as having a personal learning experience. They helped in setting up concerts and put on Wait Until Dark and The Wizard of Oz for our enjoyment. Audio- Visual deserves a lot of credit in making West a better school.

Amateur Radio The Parkway West Amateur Radio Club, now in it's third year of existence, was well on its way toward ac- tually installing a station here at West. We had our sta- tion licenses, a receiver, an antenna which loomed high above the school, and over 55100 made from can- dy sales and other club projects. We talked to other countries all around the world, including New Zealand, Australia, Germany, and Africa. We also had within our club Bill Ogroski, winner of a nation-wide radio contest. Some of our more active members included Bill Ames, president, Dave Weir, Ward Silver, Bill Ogroski, Steve Smith, Don Reader, and Mr. Larson, sponsor. Rifle Club - Greg Irwin, Bob Bay, Mr. Biere, Sponsor, Tom Calzone, Jeff Hansen, Jim Obermeyer, Steve Bay, Brian Mertz, Tim Clerk, Jerry Reed, and Ron Lindroth. Ron Lindroth and Tim Clerk receive help at target practice. 128 'Lg Steve Smith, Colleen McPherson, Bill Ames, Dave Weir, and Don Reader make fund-raising plans at an Amateur Radio Rifle Club The Rifle Club was a fairly new organization. It was the early beginning of what hopefully will become the Parkway West Small Bore Rifle Team. Possibly, in a year or more, the team can begin competing with other high schools in the area. As club members we spent one night a week at the target range and one in the classroom with a professional marksman. Once or twice a week, we shot hand traps after school. The club had something for just about everyone interested in guns and shooting.. Club meeting. Greg Irwin and Brian Mertz try to improve their marksmanship.
