Debate . -ay -' . Joy Haven finds debate class so exciting, she doesn't even leave it for lunch. Rich Coughlin and Gary Rummelhoff help Marilyn Schneider prepare her speech. This year, debate at West was something else of which students and faculty could be proud. ln debate, we worked many hard hours preparing for tournaments all across the state. Our efforts paid off. In all, we won over one hundred trophy awards along with ev- ery sweepstakes at all major tournaments held during the year. Our debate team, led by lVlr. Ron Shafer, was definitely a strategic part of West and its achievements. Mary Gilliland and Steve Hughes do research for their speeches. 115
