Howev- er, behind the blisters and complaints was a lot of hard work. CMr. Waggoner saw to that.J Extensive preparation and practice went into the halftime shows and especially the state contest. We did have some good times working together, and although the idea of early morning prac- tice still brings groans, we feel Highlanders was worth our time, and given the chance, we'd do the same thingagain. Sons of the Desert is a group of people who enjoy playing instruments together for the fun of it. We organized a few years ago and the idea has stayed on. Now S.O.D. is the official pep band for the basketball games. We accompany the Dance Corps and add a few toots of spirit to the game as well as playing our own arrangements. We're not hard to spot - if there's someone in an unusual or funny hat it's bound to be a S.O.D. member. 44? '7 fnw 111 CD O 3 CD 9Ll.l.1 eseq Ll
