PAV This year our job was to produce a yearbook. We tried to re flect West as a whole. A main concern we had was to represent adequately all of the students at West. ln order to achieve this, we concentrated mainly on presenting the accomplishments of students and school related events. We hope that we have been able to produce a book that pleases everyone. At times it was a struggle to obtain the necessary funds for a good book, but even with our limited funds we found the course worthwhile. We learned to meet strict deadlines and to cooperate with each other even when it was difficult to do so. This has been the goal of the yearbook staff and we feel we have attained this goal. .S A Editors and Sponsor -- Sally Miller, Mrs. Fleck, and Kim Coleman. IOO

Newspaper work was basically what we, as a staff, made it. Newswriting took a great amount of initiative and responsibili- ty, along with the ability to write candidly and in detail. There was always the constant push of the deadline, but in turn for all our work we gained the skills of a good journalist, and al- ways the pride of our finished product. Working on the PATH- FINDER was exciting, interesting, and informative, and some- times tedious, frustrating, and hectic. Typical of larger pa- pers, photography, writing, advertising, and pasting-up were all part of our curriculum. The sole purpose of both Journal- ism l and ll was to produce and sell the school newspaper. We, this year's staff, found Journalism a most worthwhile course. 455- 58. The maga- zine was published three times this year and includ- ed stories, poems, essays, and art work. Anyone attending West was eligible to submit material by simply bringing it to the English Concept Center or by giving it to an English teacher. 99
