PHS Cheerleaders Are the Best! Mascot: Advisor: Head Cheerleader: Teresa Travis Miss Cray Pam Phillips Under the leadership of head cheerleader, Pam Phillips, the 1979-80 Parkway High School Cheer- leaders were an outstanding group. In Iune, they attended the National Cheerlead- ers Association summer camp at Northwestern State University where they were evaluated six times and received six superior ratings. They also won the spirit stick six times and brought it home to PHS. They won first place at NSU out of 63 groups from around the state. Professional Cheer- leading judges designated them as the ideal squad. ln August, they competed in the 2nd annual South Park Mall Cheerleading Contest and won over Airline in the first round, advanced to the finals, and won 2nd place. They were also asked to cheer at a Shreveport Steamer game and also cheered at a Northwestern State University foot- ball game. These energetic eight practice cheers and chants and lead the student body in all Parkway High School athletic events. Clubs 203
