The Colts displayed much more spirit than in past seasons and their fine play attracted the largest crowds Parkway has had. The Colts were led on offense by All-Conference back Terry Phmkett. Terry tied for fourth in district scoring with 72 points. l-le carried the ball for 1,478 yards, averaging 6.1 yards per carry. Ray Doerr carried the ball for 422 yards, averaging S yards per carry and Gary Barnett averaged 7 yards per carry in gaining 211 yards. Bill Weinberger, an All-Conference defensive back, averaged 6 yards per carry. The Colts had much depth in the backfield with Bob Powell, joe Hart, Chip Dunne and jerry Suddreth being used frequently. The team as a whole averaged 4.8 yards per carry, a re- markable achievement. On defense, the Colts were led by co-captain Glenn Hollenberg and Don Weber, who was in his first year of football. Both were named to thc All-Conference defensive team as tackle and linebacker, respectively. Glenn also made the All-Conference offensive team, along with guard Larry Arft. Don led the team in tack- les and assists. Other linemen who gained honorable mention were john Farnham and Terry O'Neil at ends, Bruce Roman at tackle, and jon Phelps, Gary Atkin- son and Dale Hollenberg at guard and center. The Colts had trouble starting, losing their first three games to tough opponents. ln their league opener and Homecom in g, the Colts edged Clayton in a 14-6 thriller. The Colts then beat Wellston and Patfonvillc before losing their first league game to Berkeley. In the championship game against Brentwood, the Colts saw a 13-7 halftime lead vanish as Brentwood pushed across two touchdowns in the final quarter to win the Little Six Championship, 20-13. The defeat tumbled the Colts from a first place tie to fourth.
