As every journey begins, we must be cer- tain that all members are present. School attendance is one of the many duties of Mrs. Lorraine Williams, our Administra- tive Assistant. Aside from the compiling of the many county and state reports regard- ing attendance, she keeps track of our school supplies and hires substitute teach- ers. Her calm and efficient personality as- sure us that our school can give a good account of itself. Second in command of our odyssey through Parkville High School is Alvin V. Burgess, our Vice Principal. Aside from his duties regarding discipline, he is re- sponsible for the presence of most of the students through his direction of the transportation for our school. His direc- tion of custodial forces assure us that our building will also be warm and clean. The executive oHicer's friendly and capable manner make us feel secure in our school. was nfs? 2'

Parkville is growing-in total enrollment, in its curri- culum offerings and in activities. The solu- tion of some of the problems occasioned by our rapid growth has required the best of all of us. Much has happened since we moved to this school a little over three years ago. The most encouraging thing that has happened, and can continue to happen, is the increasing realization by the student body that high school means more than merely attending classes. It means participating in classes sat- isfactorily and with ever increasing achieve- ment, it means accepting responsibility for the management, morale, and the spirit of .14 Wed5age rom .7lte lgrincilaa the schoolg it means developing as a person intellectually, emotionally, and spirituallyg it means leaving the high school ready to go on to higher fields of learning or to participate in the work of the world as mature in- dividuals. In accomplishing these gains the class of 1956 has, as the Hrst graduating class, been willing to assume its responsibility for leadership. To those who are leaving Parkville I ex- tend my very best wishes for a satisfying and successful career. It has been a pleasure to know you and to work with you in the solu- tion of your problems and those of a newly- formed school. It will always be a pleasure to welcome you at this school whenever you have an opportunity to return. NORRIS A. KING Principal
