The very first raid, eating out of bedpans, and wearing Probie Caps. Our first lab practical and giving our patient a bath. The lab practical when we tried to find that stupid blood pressure. First day on the floor--how nervous we were, and our first rate C?i care to our patients. Karen Junior striping in August marked the end of the Freshman year and the beginning of the journey toward graduation. What was found to lay ahead were patient assessments, diaries, needs and approach cards, wheelchair rides, and 10070 quizzes. Six rotations X six weeks I a lot of work! The high point of the year proved to be the Junior-S enior Banquet at the lVlarriott Inn ballroom, with Win Schuler's providing the dinner and Walden supplying the music. Leading up to the banquet was a lot of hard salesmanship to raise the necessary funds. Candles, stationery, and more candles were sold. Also, fall yardwork was done where Juniors used muscles already built up from pushing, pulling, and turning patients. Love a Parkview Nurse Today appeared as the theme for the year. Green T-shirts inscribed with the phrase were sold to students and employees. The project was to be non-profit, but only in terms of money-making! Parties, too, were a high point of Junior life. A cookout after the yardwork, a pizza party marking the midpoint to graduation, Big Sis-Little Sis parties, plus the inevitable popcorn and birthday parties - all proved to add some excitement to the year. The Junior year is now one of memories, just as the Freshman year. lVlemories- some good, some bad- but all important. .Yet more important is what lies in the future- the Senior year. 37 ,Nb- Q-f i' F7 !
