After facing the fear of not knowing anyone, came the embarrassment of being seen in such long uniforms followed by the bad case of stomach butterflies before the first day on the floor. It was a year of Thursday nights spent studying for Pharma- cology tests, trips back to the hospital for forgotten charting, and frustrations of contaminating sterile gloves. Raising money for the junior-Senior Banquet was the first ma- jor project undertaken by the class. Selling candles before Christ- mas and stationery in the spring brought in over S1000 for the class treasury. Also, as a non-profit project, Parkview mugs were sold to students and faculty. Getting that little white cap was the number one goal of each Freshman. A pre-capping smorgasbord dinner planned by the class and a night of cold showers, tee-peed halls, and raids pre- ceded Capping Day. Capping was a goal reached as well as a step toward yet another goal - graduation, and Parkview's Class of 1976 are well on their way toward this next goal. Y .57 ,hu I . Mr. Slen presents Diana Rinehart with the Merit Award as Miss Kolter makes last minute touches. On january 18, 1974, 68 girls from the Parkview Class of 1976 received their caps. The ceremony was held in the New Haven United Methodist Church which was filled to capacity with proud parents, family, friends, and loved ones. During the ceremony, Diana Rinehart received the Merit Award from administrator, Mark Slen, for her academic achieve- ments, appearance and overall atti- tude. She was chosen from among the girls by her instructors. The eve- ning was concluded by a reception at English Hall where everyone was welcome to congratulate the girls. 23 Sy ffl 3 nr Cheryl Amstuu Karen Batt Karen Brown Kathryn Brown 1 X, Y s, .:::f5f' T 1 ffm -W fa ,l. . r rf. :. Among their freshman projects, they sold Parkview shirts and operated a General Store two evenings a week. The highlight of the year, was when each freshman received the coveted cap at the annual capping service in New Haven and Sue Thompson was presented the Award of Merit. In the fall of 1973, the addition of stripes officially pro- nounced the freshmen juniors. As juniors, the 2nd year students were busy with such projects as bake sales, doing yardwork and selling Parkview Football shirts. The work of two years was appropriately labeled worth it when the juniors hosted the annual junior-Senior Banquet held this year at the new Marriott Inn Ballroom with dinner by Win Schuler's followed by an evening of dancing. qw QL, .552 mild BNN' -3' hx . ,I jean Adamson Lynn Brinkman wr, Y HM ul' ,xg M,-g :Wi ,E'1 f I !'
