Class History ln the fall of l953, we entered High School, determined to make the -best of the four years ahead of us. Standing by was Mrs. Eloise Jenkins, our home room teacher. Shirley Brigman was elected class president. ln the spring of our freshman year, we joumeyed to Lumberton for physical examinations. The re- sults proved we were capable of taking on new subjects as sophomores. As sophomores we began to understand the importance of High School. Mrs. Jenkins was again our sponsor, and Shirley Brigman our class president. The outstanding event of the year was the initiation of Jean Proctor, Miriam Wallace, Shirley Brigman, and Betty Mabe into the Beta Club. After three months of vacation, we retumed to school as dignified iuniors. Under the guidance of Mrs. Jenkins, sponsor, and Betty Mabe, class president, we undertook the tasks that lay before us. ln December we received our class rings. Cther highlights of the year were: our play, Happy Days , our ban- quet, Hawaiian Cruise, and our trip to Washington, D. C. Serving as marshals for graduation exercises in the spring were Betty Mabe, chief, Miriam Wallace, Shirley Brigman, Jean Proctor, and Peggy Bullard. At last it was l956, and we were seniors. We elected Jean Proctor as our class president, and drafted Mrs. Jenkins as our sponsor. lt has been a busy year, but every busy moment has been a deli htful ex erience. Aswe repare to cross the threshold of 9 P P graduation, not one of us can say what the future pages of history hold for each of us, but this we know now: We're not to the top, but climbing.
