In 1927 this third building of Parksky High School was constructed. The memories of two fires and months of reconstruction ate absent from my memory, however, for the P.H.S. I know Jus always stood hem. educating my parent?., trie mis, and now me. for nearly twelve vears, I ' ve had ihte building ' :? acquaintance, ar.d it has watched me grow from the day I spotted my first cap and gown in kindergarten graduation until now, when its stage will soon watch me march to that same rhythm and In that dress once again. Its outer face has .never changed from the smiling doors now thiown open to me. Inside, its. halts have brightened with new ilocong and paint and the office and classrooms have constantly sported new principals and teachers to add variety to my stay. The change mat has mm fascinated me, however, has been the loss of a few more, face each year and receiving news that that girl or boy I once envied as a “senior” has become a lawyer or teacher in that “cold world.” Once, a long time ago, I was a junior and curiously wondered why in the world those seniors kept gazing over their shoulders for long glances at these windows arid bricks they had known most of their lives. But now it is I who have come to the looking-back stage. Each class has moved on to make room for me, and now the “out” door has opened for my passage. IVe walked this same sidewalk in front of the budding many a morning with a notebook to my face and never noticed until now how prettily the sun sparkles its windows and seems to invite me in. Perhaps this is the good memory to hold - the morning sun on P.H.S. and the “in” door instead of the diploma and the “out.” For many, Fm sure it has been just “out ” but upon my class I wish it will be the hall through which to pass info a new and richer life. And for those of you I leave behind, take a look at it again. In a year or two or three, you’ll be standing here on my sidewalk, walking in for the last time, trying to memorize its face, and counting the steps up to the hall, too. Take your first good look at it now, put yourself in the picture, and share my wish that when you stand here in my shadow ' ready to leave, you, too, will forever remember. A Senior
