“
We Turned O’er Many Books Together” In selecting We turned o'er many books together as the theme of the 1964 yearbook, we are trying to recreate a vivid record which can be maintained for the rest of our lives. Our symbol, the book, will help us remember the important pages of our school life,- our academic work, with which we spent most of our time. It also reminds us of the teachers who taught us and helped us with our problems and the friends with whom we studied during our six years at Parkland. In closing our high school days, we are closing one of the volumes in the series of our lives. The Par-Key is our summary of those days. We want to express our deepest appreciation to those who helped us compile this volume, especially the administration and faculty. In addition, we sincerely appreciate the support which the entire senior class gave our staff. Foremost among them is Mr. Ralph E. Seltzer, a man who has devoted himself to teaching at Parkland High School for the past sixteen years. The Class of 1964 will long remember him. Some will remember him as their business education teacher. Others will remember him as a class advisor who helped plan and co-ordinate the class activities. Among these activities were the Junior-Senior Prom, the class plays, class dances, and class meetings. We must express our gratitude to him for doing the many little things which made each endeavor successful. The Class of 1964 proudly dedicates this yearbook to Mr. Seltzer. 4 APPRECIATION To show our gratitude for the service she has willingly rendered, the Class of 1964 has chosen to honor MRS. MARIAN J. SAUL. Our librarian has instructed students in the use of library facilities and has shown personal interest by helping them solve their problems. During the ten years she has been at Parkland, the number of volumes in the library has more than doubled, and she has enlarged resources to the extent lhat former students in college often return to use them. To promote student interest in the library, Mrs. Saul has founded the library club, instituted a record library, and opened the library during the evenings and the summer. We will always remember Mrs. Saul's pleasant friendliness and helpfulness, and we appreciate the lasting effect she has had on our class. tF Qlnefc Please 5 EA TURES THE CHRISTMAS DANCE December 21st was the night of the annual Christmas dance sponsored by the Senior Class. The students learned the fundamentals of basketball under the supervision of Miss Mildred Birosik, Mr. Ralph Carter, and Mr. Frank Reed. This spring, under the watchful eyes of Mrs. Sandra Schleicher, students could be seen on the baseball field hitting and fielding in America's most popular sport, baseball.
