LIBRARY Mrs. Saul earned her B.S. at Kutztown State College. Her main interest lies in the field of books, as she is our librarian and also sponsors Library Club, as well as teaching seventh graders the art of using library resources. Mrs. Murphy is our well-liked librarian secretary. Her artistic talents are displayed in the variations of the bulletin board. ART Mr. Antonik earned his B.F.A. and M.F.A. from Tyler School of Fine Arts and Temple University. As an Art teacher, he seems to find hidden beauty in any creation. Mr. Antonik is also an avid admirer of the late Dr. Swallow. Extra time is spent in listening to fine music. Mrs. Lohman achieved her B.S. from Kutztown State College. Although new at Parkland, she has acquired an intimate friendship with the students. Troxell’s occupies her time on Wednesdays and Thursdays. MUSIC Mr. Reimschissel received his B.S. from West Chester and his M.A. from the University of Michigan. He is now teaching instrumental music, and conducts the Junior and Senior Band. Outside of school, bicycling and archery are a few of his interests. 21

INDUSTRIAL ARTS Mr. Bruce Stevenson; B.S., Millersville, Lehigh University, Metal Shop. Mr. Howard Haus-man; B.S., Millersville, M.A., Lehigh University, Industrial Arts. Mr. James Lutz; B.S., Millersville State Teachers College, Industrial Arts. DRIVER ED UCA TION A GRICUL TURE Mr. Ralph Domey, who received his B.S. from Kutztown State College, is qualified to teach science as well as driver education. Unusually brave, he teaches driver-training not only on school days, but also on Saturdays. Travel, camping, and athletics also rate high on his spare time list. Mr. Donald Chattin graduated from Penn State University where he received his B.S. degree. Mr. Chattin has introduced the newest agricultural techniques to the vocational boys in his classes. 20

SPECIAL CLASS HOME ECONOMICS Mrs. Sara Harting and Mrs. Grace Podany are the two women who are in charge of training the future homemakers. Mrs. Harting’s classes fill the halls with the aroma of home-baked goods and Mrs. Podany’s classes of whirling sewing machines bring results of the latest styles as pictured in Seventeen. Mrs. Harting was graduated from Hood, where she received her B.S. degree, and Mrs. Podany was graduated from Cedar Crest College, where she received her B.S. degree. Mrs. Ruth Wassum acquired her A.B. degree from Ursinus College. Her teaching matter in the special class includes all possible subjects. Even with her busy schedule, she finds time for her favorites, such as, reading, painting, sewing, and cooking. NURSE Mrs. Winifred Herman, our school nurse, attended Allentown Hospital School of Nursing, and received her degree at Kutztown. After filing health records and taking temperatures, she spends time in church w-ork and a nursery program. 22
