ariety of activities breaks up monoton When people hear the word Nschooli' the first thing that comes to mind is all work and no play . This is not necessarily true. Along with all that hard work and studying, there is some fun. There are clubs and other organizations to suit every want and need. Here at PHS we have sports, the band, DECA, a Rugged Adventure Club, HECE, VOE, Library Club, ROTC, Choir, Student Council and many more. Twenty years ago, many of these clubs did not exist. And those that did, were small in membership. Through the years, as the school grew, so did the numbers in and of the clubs. Of course, the main reason for school is to learn and grow, both mentally and physically. With the help of teachers, administrators, and all the clubs and their sponsors we fthe studentsl can grow socially and economically. Twenty years is a short time span for a school and PHS has grown substantially within that time span. 4Spanish Dreams' Honors Homecoming Queen Spanish Dreams was the theme chosen to honor Queen Valerie Cas- tro and the 1980 Homecoming Court. The halftime coronation, presided over by Mr. Crow, capped a week-long celebration which end- ed the following night with the an- nual Homecoming Dance. Homecoming week activities in- cluded an Orange Relay in the cafe- teria, Hat Day, Dress-up Day, Bum Day, and School Colors Day. The 27-7 victory over district rival J .M. Hanks was a fitting tribute to honor the members of the Homecoming Court. Elected to serve on this yearls court were Valerie Castro. She was escorted during the halftime cere- mony, before a packed stadium, by Gene Rodriguez. Lady-in-Waiting, Tina Jackson, was escorted by Maurice Sieber. Elected to represent the student body members were: Senior Prin- cess. Mary Fitzgerald who was es- corted by Glenn Callison.
