Traditions help boost school moral TWENTY YEARS AND GROWING . . . Traditions, built over that twenty-year time span have remained a part of our daily life at Parkland. And although many of them have come down to us through former Matador activities, occasionally we build new traditions for future students to observe. Homecoming week emphasizes our traditions more than any other times. Hall decorations suddenly appear as student council members do the work. Burning the P and Black and Gold Days are two of the most tradi- tional activities. They are perhaps the most impressive and most ob- served traditions. But newcomers, Bum Day, and a spirit link contest, hat day and oth- ers have come into our repetoire as well. The things we have done, the ac- tivities, fun, traditions we have started, encouraged, participated in, will have a place in our hearts, and in the heritage which is Twenty years old and growing. The latest spring outfit is modeled by Mrs. Tucker X gp.

Club activities play vital school role TWENTY YEARS AND GROWING . . . Yes, twenty years since Parkland opened its doors to all the activities that make a school great. Classes, sports, pep rallies, clubs, singing, dancing, performing as in- strumentalists in band . . . all of these activities touch our lives as they have touched the twenty-years of students who have come before us. This year is no different. This year our cheerleaders boosted spirit at pep rallies, clubs sponsored mon- ey-making projects, we held Mr. Ten and talent and beauty contests. This year our band played in con- test, students tried out for all-city, region and state in choir and band, clubs held initiationsg the art depart- ment came up with a special beauti- fication project. And this was 1980-81. Our twen- tieth year, and we're still growing. What kind of creature has invaded PHS? 6 Burning the P is an important homecoming tradition. . ..,,...
