THE TIGER PARKIN HIGH SCHOOL PARKIN, ARKANSAS MeM ae This 1950-1951 school year has been a very busy and eventful year for all of us. We are seeing one one of our fondest dreams come true—the construction of a new high school building. This beautiful structure will be ready to occupy at the beginning of the next school year. As we move into our new home next year. I would like for you to remember that the educational opportunities offered to you in America are unmatched by any other nation in the world. These opportunities involvo a tremendous investment in buildings, equipment, teachers' salaries, etc. The taxpayers of your community have voted and oro paying the highest tax rate in Arkansas in ordor to provide these things for you. As students and citizens of this community, you have an obligation to protect and help preserve ♦his beautiful new building. Make it your job to help protect all school proporty. Prove to yctfr parents and other taxpayers that you appreciate what they are doing for you. In closing. I would like to urge you not to negiect your school work. A new member of the faculty, Coach Cecil Kemp. Miss Gustavus, another member of the faculty recived a lot of attention because she had returned wearing a diamond on the third finger, left hand. September 18th was a happy day for the Seniors—they order- ed their rings. November 30th our Thanksgiving game'with Earle did not end as we had hoped, but as we've learned Into each life some rain must fall —Our Queen, Clara Taylor, and Maid of Honor, Wanda May, and their attendants were pretty enough to make up for the loss of the game. December 5th the Senior Girls challeng- ed the Junior Girls to a football game but because of bad weather the game was never played but we did have lots of fun electing cheerleaders. Later on the Student Body elected Bill Gash its president and the Student Council was launched. There- after the Seniors elected an Annual Staff, headed by Marie Fitzgerald and Edmon Davis. During the Christmas season Johnnie Mae gave a party for the Senior Class. January 26th four Dignified Seniors, Joan, Ann, Margie, and Marie, and one Jolly Junior, Wilma, played hookey and had lots of fun too, but got caught in the act.. Feb- ruary 14th Marie Fitzgerald and Dennis McKnight gave a formal dance in honor of the Seniors, their dates, and the faculty. NEXT TO THE LAST WILL OF THE SENIOR CLASS Ann Stone—wills everything she's got for a ticket to Puerto Rica to the First State Bank. Marie Fitzgerald—wills her ability to love them all to Sam Melhorn. Margie Roachell—wills her ability to want a man to Jo Caldwell. Joan Turner—wills her ability to play hookey and not get by with it to Wilma Paul. Bonnye Todd—leaves her love for the teachers to Jo Elia Thompson. Wanda May—leaves her horse for Wooten's stable. Johnnie Wooten—wills her horse stable to Flossie Wright. Myra Dunn—leaves her loud ways to Jimmie Ruth Cole. Kathryn Algood—wills her ability to make A s to Buster StClair. Clara Taylor—leaves her ability to fall in love to Polly Simpson. Billie Busby—wills her little sister to Bobby McKnight. Doris Parrish—wills her ability to go on a vacation and miss school to anyone who gets a chance. A. was represented in livestock showing by Tommy Lessenberry and Jerry Shaw. Tommy, won six first, five second, two thirds on Duroc and Poland China Hogs and won a total $96.91. Jerry, showed a Black Angus Cow and Calves. He won two first and two second places and a total of $32.00. DISTRICT FAIR AT BLYTHEVILLE 2. Arville Green, Dennis McKnight, Bobby McKnight, were the livestock judging team. They placed fourth. Arville, won fourth place individual. Bill Gash, Harry Kelley, and Louis Prater were the dairy judging team. They tied for first. Bill Gash, won first place individual. Livestock was shown in F. F. A. Class by Tommy Lessenberry. He exhibited ten head of hogs, winning one first, two second, and two third places. MID - SOUTH FAIR 3. The Parkin F. F. A. Chapter attended the Mid-South Fair on F. F. A. Day. INITIATION OF GREEN HANDS 4. Twenty-seven hands were initiated into the F. F. A. on Sept. 19. ST. FANCIS VALLEY F. F. A. FEDERATION 5. The F. F. A. Officers attended the meeting at Marked Tree on December I I.
