OUR PASSPORT March 16, 1936. Parkersburg High School is :1 modern educational plant, located on a large and beautiful campus. It is an organization comprising an admin- istration staff, a faculty, and a student body. The school offers varied cur- ricula and a broad program of student activities, It is an institution that presents a wholesome environment for the education of young people. Yet Parkersburg High School is more than all of these. Our school is vitalized by the stu- dent participation in its control. The extent to which the student body co- operates in the management of the school is indicative not only of the morale of the school, but also of the acceptance of the modern idea that we learn most easily by doing. The publication of the Parkersburg Higli School Annual, the Parhischan, is testimony of the opportunities afford- ed students in our school to assume responsibility, to display initiative, to learn to work amicably with others. and to develop skill in the proper use of authority, We are indebted to the members of the Senior Class for the 1936 Par' hischan, Sincerely yours, L. s. MICHAEL, I AND VISE Within these pages the Par- hischaii Staff olfers you a first edition. As with other hrst edi- tions its value increases with the passing years, Unlike the others, however, there can be no re- prints, no revisions. To certain of its characters it is laudatoryg to others a silent rebuke for lost opportunities. It cannot be re- read with the same meaning, yet it will re-create always the atmos- phere in which it was conceived. To those who gave it motiva- tion may I congratulate you on a Enished work: To those who gave it lifeeblood may I offer best wishes through the years. Very truly yours, D. O. CONNER.
