Chan These good Si s te r s remained for one year pending the preparation of St. Raphael's Convent for the Sisters of the Poor Child Jesus to whom His Excellency Archbishop-Bishop John J. Swint had en- trusted the schools of the city. Father McBride had purchased a res- idence on Juliana St. which was converted temporarily into an a t t r a c ti v e school. This building was maintained for twenty- five ye ar s as St, Francis Xavier Junior High School, In 1949, the Very Reverend John B. O'Reil1y undertook the arduous ta sk and colossal debt involved in the construction of the fine modern building which we know today and have enjoyed for the past four years as students of Parkersburg Catholic High School. Parker sburg Catholic High School now graduatesits first Senior Class of '55, As St. Francis Xavier Grade School, the doorswere opened to the children of the city in Septem- ber, l923, and the cla s s e s were staffed by the Sisters of St. Joseph. ml aw...
