1 1 Senior Class History On August 29j of 1963 sixteen seniors met to start the 1963-611 school year. Later Joyce Linnartz and Louise Stever Thomas enrolled so on Commencement night we were eighteen. We met with our sponsors, Mrs. Moore and Mr. Barnes and elected the following officers: president. Cherry Moore; vice-president, Bonnie Jo Ray; secretary, Irene Wishart; treasurer, Susan Quaintance; and student council represent- atives, Betty Harold and Stanley Prear. We had our first senior class party on November 12, a picnic at Parker Lake. Susan and Stanley participated over station KOPO on the Pepsi Party. We had several money raising projects: we had a bake sale, sold magazines, picked com, and climaxed with our Senior Class Play, Backwoods Romeo which netted us $78.50. We published twelve issues of the school paper. Panther Press; sponsored the sales of ads and the publication of the annual yearbook; Cherry Moore won the Betty Crocker Award; Irene Wishart and Stanley Frear were football King and Queen; Betty Harold and Bernard Dumcum were attendants; Susan Quaintance won second place in the magazine sales, Betty Harold placed second in the Osawatomie Graphic subscription contest, and Stanley Prear received the Outstanding Student Award. On Saturday morning May 9 we started on our Ozark trip, which took in several places of interest in that scenic region, and which was climaxed with a enjoyable day at the Coby Dude Ranch. Baccalaureate was on May 17 and our Commencement Services on May 20. Reverend Leonard Reifel was the speaker. Our class colors are powder blue and white, the red rose is our flower, and our motto, We have reached the bay in safety. Now the ocean lies in view.
