Senior Class History September of 1962 found us with twenty-three ambitious sen- iors since Irene Lyons and Nancy Stiffler, as in the case of Donna Lincoln, preferred the life of a house-wife to school and James Swallow moved. Linda Tucker joined our ranks. We met with our sponsors. Mrs. Moore and Mr. DeLano, and elected the following officers: president, Gaylin Nickell; vice- president, Jimmie Thomas; secretary, Myma Crouch; treasurer, Lorita Gross; and student council representatives, Ralph Wilcox and Marylou Brownback. On May 3 we left for the scenic Ozarks for our sneak; we returned late Saturday from our pleasure packed, carefree trip. The evening of Mav 10 we enjoyed very much the outstanding Junior-Senior Banquet, The Enchanted Island. There were several outstanding members in our senior class. Marilyn Hampton placed first in the Linn County Dry Fbrces Essay Contest. Elaine Stites won the Betty Crocker Award. Lorita Gross was chosen Queen of the Osawatomie Pair. Charolette Coop was Queen of the Band Fair and F.F.A. Sweetheart. Ralph Wilcox and Elaine Stites were football King and Queen; Myrna Crouch and Gaylin Nickell were their first attendants. Carolyn Magers, Elaine Stites, Lois Mauk, and Marilyn Hampton took their French Horn Quartet to the State Contest for the second year, received a two rating. Ronnie Singer, Bill Ewert, and James Hampton received a third place in the State F.F.A. dairy judging contest. Ralph Wilcox and James Hampton were outstanding in track. Gaylin Nickell received the Outstanding Student Award. The beginning of the end of our high school days came May 12 when we attended our Baccalaureate services. The Rev. Eldon E. Mauk delivered the sermon . The final move to the end was our Commencement Services on May 16, 1963. Rev. Harold M. Mallett was our speaker. We chose lavendar and white as class colors, the red rose as our class flower, and our motto, So much to do; so little done. Gaylin Nickell
